Groove with us at Uptown Fridays! at The Studio Museum in Harlem! With a variety of vibrant events this series transforms the Museum into a center of social activity in Harlem. Groove to the sounds of Libation’s DJ Ian Friday with Manchildblack and Afro Mosaic Soul. Enjoy signature cocktails and drink specials. Throughout the course of the evening we will provide opportunities to explore our current exhibitions during free guided tours, dance to great music in the Studio Museum’s courtyard, and browse incredible books, jewelry, t-shirts and gifts in the Museum Store. Bring a friend or come solo and make a few during a festive evening of art and culture!
On the occasion of the first Uptown Fridays! of the season and the closing of our Spring 2014 exhibitions there will be two guided tours in our galleries:
7:30 PM: Tour of When the Stars Begin to Fall: Imagination and the American South with Assistant Curator Thomas J. Lax
8:15 PM: Tour of Draped Down with recent Curatorial Fellow Monique Long
We are pleased to be premiering, on a continuous loop, The Studio Museum in Harlem’s community engagement video from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Museum’s Theatre.
This short video was produced with Lord Cultural Resources to present a select number of responses taken from conversations with the Museum’s diverse audiences locally, nationally and internationally. The total running time is approximately four minutes.
